Transport Stats: compare key data on Canada & Mexico

Both countries have very good transportation networks that cover their territories thoroughly, be it land, air or sea. Due to its vastness, airplane is the most common way of travel between major cities in Canada. Canada counts 445 airports with paved runways versus 205 for Mexico. On the other hand, Mexico has more airports with unpaved runways counting 1471 versus 944 for Canada. That is an indicator of a poorer infrastructure of Mexico compared to that of Canada.

Canada is five times bigger in area than Mexico and it has three times more paved roadways and three times more railways. The same proportion applies for the total length of gas and oil pipelines between the two countries.

It should be noted that Mexico has twice more road traffic fatalities than Canada. That is due to a poorer infrastructure, but it is also indicates that Mexico has a greater vehicle flux leading to more accidents which is supported by the fact that Mexico has a higher population density than Canada.

Neither country has a high-speed railway network and Canada is the only G8 country that lacks such a network. However, high-speed railway networks have been proposed for both countries.

Both countries have very good transportation networks that cover their territories thoroughly, be it land, air or sea. Due to its vastness, airplane is the most common way of travel between major cities in Canada. Canada counts 445 airports with paved runways versus 205 for Mexico. On the other hand, Mexico has more airports with unpaved runways counting 1471 versus 944 for Canada. That is an indicator of a poorer infrastructure of Mexico compared to that of Canada.

Canada is five times bigger in area than Mexico and it has three times more paved roadways and three times more railways. The same proportion applies for the total length of gas and oil pipelines between the two countries.

It should be noted that Mexico has twice more road traffic fatalities than Canada. That is due to a poorer infrastructure, but it is also indicates that Mexico has a greater vehicle flux leading to more accidents which is supported by the fact that Mexico has a higher population density than Canada.

Neither country has a high-speed railway network and Canada is the only G8 country that lacks such a network. However, high-speed railway networks have been proposed for both countries.
